The demand for sustainable accessories is increasing, along with European consumer awareness of social, environmental and economic issues in the sector. Corporate Responsibility in the jewellery sector is changing rapidly with the integration of new standards and requirements.

Furthermore, there are stringent regulations within the EU to protect the consumers from dangerous products. All products (textile and non-textile) that are imported or traded in Europe must comply with European Legislation on Environmental and Chemical compliance. To avoid allergic reactions, heavy metals like Cadmium, Nickel and Lead may not be used in jewellery.
Social and environmental compliance has been an important focus point since the foundation of our company. Over the years, we have placed a growing importance on the development of a sustainable supply chain. As producer J-Club is accountable for product quality and safety, and as a result J-Club has many responsibilities.

We place your customer and quality first in everything we do. This way we make sure the products they buy are not only sparkling, but above all safe and produced in line with their standards.

Since 2009 we are member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). This is a leading supply chain management system that supports us to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories of our suppliers.

BSCI implements the principle international labor standards protecting workers’ rights such as International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions and declarations, the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and guidelines for multinational enterprises of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

With the help of the BSCI network we audit our suppliers through independent auditing companies. This ensures our suppliers and its production locations at least meet the minimal requirements.

  1. Prevention of child labour
  2. No forced and bonded labour
  3. Severe safety hazards
  4. Real and accurate wage and working hour records
  5. Accident insurance for workers
  6. No severe environmental pollution

Since 2016 we have made further significant investments to ensure the quality and safety of our products. We have appointed a dedicated Quality Assurance Manager; whose primary task is to improve and embed higher quality standards within our organization and that of our suppliers. In China, we have a quality consultant to coordinate and track the total testing process, to ensure our quality standards are achieved.

All our products are subject to rigorous EU directives and fulfill the requirements of GPSG (2001/95/EC) with regard to product safety. Our bijoux is produced according to the REACH regulation EC 1907/2006 directive that for example limit the content of Lead, Cadmium and release of Nickel in metals and plastics. Sunglasses fulfill the requirements of the directive and comply with the regulation (EU) 2016/425 according to norm EN ISO 12311 & 12312-1:2013 + A1:2015 (sunglasses for general use).

The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has current and future substances identified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Once a substance is added to the SVHC Candidate List, the EU REACH Regulation imposes immediate obligations on manufacturers and importers to declare the substances if present. Article 33(1) of the REACH Regulation states that manufacturers and importers of articles (products) are required to notify their customers of the presence of any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in their products exceeding 0.1% by weight and provide instructions on safe use of the product. Our products do not contain any SVHC substances that exceed the 0,1% by weight. All our suppliers signed declarations that state they will not use these substances and random sample checks are done to ensure the absence of substances marked on the SVHC list.
